A short flight of steps was built into the front corner and fitted out as a site would be, with glass infill, brass top rail and steel stanchions, so visitors could climb it. Behind, blue walls carry curved white shelves and recessed niches holding profiles, clamps and handles. A sweeping white form lifts the logo, and mosaic pendants drop over the samples. Counter and glass table take the second open side, so the exhibition stall design at IIID Showcase Hyderabad stays walkable.

The Challenge
IIID Showcase brings architects and interior designers who want a hand on a handrail before they specify it. Metalo had 16 sqm open on two sides at HITEX, hemmed in by bigger material brands. The exhibition stall design at IIID Showcase Hyderabad had to demonstrate railings at full scale and still leave floor for people to stand and talk.
What We Designed

Why It Worked
The staircase gave people a reason to step off the aisle without being asked, and once a hand was on the rail the conversation started itself. Samples set at standing height meant nobody had to crouch over a table. Royal blue against a hall of timber and beige stands made the materials showcase stand easy to find a second time.
